Old video from a float/photography trip I took back in 2007 on the Red River of the South (tx and ok). Found a small patch of quicksand no more than 25 feet from my campsite. Was alone, miles away from any possible help, hence the rope. Determined that the little pit probably wasn't much more than knee deep before I waded in, but still kept a rope attached to fallen tree trunk off-camera. The quicksand wasn't super thick, had that remarkable red-orange color from the red clay soil common to the area. Still, it had a good grip on my legs and you can see me have to exert a bit of effort to get out. Fun, but I don't recommend going alone looking for it on the Red River isolated locations, many hazards.
