Like you, I'd be so tempted to go in for seconds. You're there, so why not take advantage of the situation? I'm curious if anyone saw you on your way back. If it were me, I'd try to laugh it off as best as I can and say I fell into a mud pit after accidentally dropping a very expensive watch into the pit. I just couldn't pass up on leaving an heirloom and lost my footing. Oh, well.
