That afternoon, without any particular reason, I put on my three-piece suit crisp white shirt, neatly tied tie, polished leather shoes and walked toward the pool. The sun was still high as I stepped into the water, fully-dressed. The fabric grew heavy, clinging to my skin, my shoes slipping slightly on the smooth tiles below. I swam a few slow laps, feeling the water seep into every seam and fold. Then I dove, letting myself float in the quiet weightlessness. Finally, I settled on the submerged steps, suit soaked, eyes drifting toward the blue sky. It was absurd, unexpected and yet deeply peaceful.
