As I edited my footage for my 2024 Pi Day video, one angle stood out as both an excellent demonstration video of my latest pie device and perfect teaser trailer a week out from releasing the main angle as my Pi Day 2024 video.
I present: the Piekitten Pod. It outputs 5-6x as much pie as the original in about as much time. In 8 seconds of true glory it burns 3 figures of supplies.
This took... a long time... to get working. The tubes need a large volume of air at a relatively low pressure (20-25 Psi). Firing these at lower pressures is ideal both because it sticks better on impact and for straightforward safety reasons, but you need bigger/more tanks and wider-than-typical pneumatic fittings to make that happen. Even the control box was a lot more work than one would guess, as the thing cycles through firing and venting the tubes *in hardware* with 17 relays packed into the box, which you can vaguely see in the mirror as a reflection, is 3D printed to look like a giant pie.
If you pay close attention, I will need to add more weight on the base for future scenes because the torque from the 2nd outer tube still rotated the device a bit (I had 50lbs added to it already).
