I've done this (accidentally and otherwise) with the old Mehron-oil mix many times. It blinks out really quickly, but don't do it while wearing contacts - you'll ruin them. They're porous, and the fine metallic powder gets into all the holes, turning them gold or silver.
Dried acrylic feels like a thin, plasticky film, which is nice, but I always found it to be a bit dry and crumbly after a while. I've never been able to sleep in it. Adding some rubber to the mix gives you a flexible coating that squeezes you all over. It's also hard to sleep in, but for overstimulation reasons.
